Second-graders learn about Bible characters and Heroes of the Faith in ten thematic units that study the Old and New Testament through BJU Press curriculum. During the year, through Bible stories and lessons, students will learn doctrine; will hear about different Bible characters, prophets, and important people who have contributed to the history of the church, and will be shown what behavior pleases and displeases God. Christian themes continue in the students’ history, science, health, math, language, reading, and spelling books through A Beka Books. Christian character traits are also focused on in pull-out classes like physical education, music, and art. These classes teach physical fitness, music theory, and art appreciation, but also help students to form healthy classroom relationships, improve behavior, and increase their self-image.
