The kindergarten program at Firm Foundation uses a phonics-based reading curriculum. Instruction in letter sounds, short and long vowel words, and special sounds are all used to facilitate reading. Students learn numbers to 100, basic addition and subtractions facts, as well as time and money facts over the course of the year in math. Science and social studies are taught thematically with a Christian worldview. Daily Bible lessons focus on important people and events in the Bible as well as key tenants of the Christian faith. Over the course of the year students memorize 26 Bible verses representing each letter of the alphabet. Music and physical education classes are twice a week. Students attend class all day Monday / Wednesday or Tuesday / Thursday and alternate Fridays.
